The Gemini Gems program is a pre-competitive program for girls of all ages. This program is perfect for girls who are seeking more hours of training and are capable of handling a more intense program than recreational.
Our Gems Athletes will be focused on learning progressions, competitive skills, and routines in a less competitive environment - great for getting introduced to the world of competitive gymnastics! This allows for individual progression within a group. Our Coaches work with the athletes to discover their strengths and weakness and help them to improve overall.
What Does Training Look Like?
The program runs all year round. From September to June we are open 7 days a week, and training will be split into two separate days (typically one on the weekend and one during the week). For the summer, July to August, we are open weekdays only. Gems will train weekends between 9:00am and 6:00pm, and weekdays between 3:30pm and 9:00pm.
Training is between 4 and 8 hours each week, split into two separate days. Get to know our Coaches here.
Our Coaches will submit assessments for our Gems athletes to keep the family updated on their progress. Regular testing of flexibility, strength and skills will be done throughout the year. Our report cards will be given out in November, February, June and August.
What Special Events Does Gems Include?
Every December we hold a Christmas Concert for our Gems and Competitive athletes. Here athletes get to perform a dance in front of friends! Its a great opportunity to get Gems athletes to meet and start interacting with all the girls! It is loads of fun and athletes get to show off their skills that aren't necessarily in their routines.
Who Can Join the Gems Program?
We take athletes of all ages in our Gems program. We currently have athletes as young as 5 and as old as 15. We work with athletes of all ability levels, and work on routines for Competitive Level 2 and up. If your athlete cannot do all the skills in Level 1 Competitive, we suggest our recreational program!
How Can My Athlete Join the Gems Program?
To join the Gems program we recommend having completed ALL Experience Groups of our Recreational Programs (regular, intermediate, and advanced) for at least 2 session. We also suggest that you have completed Recreational Level 1-5 as that covers all the skills and routines for Level 1 Competitive, and leads into Gems beginning with Level 2. Our Coaches also keep an eye out at all times for any athletes that they feel would excel in our Gems programs and will suggest getting tested either to the athlete, parents, or our Recreational Coordinators.
Testing is completed by our Recreational Coordinator. She will assess all the athletes abilities for example: strength, flexibility, ability to apply corrections, as well as skills. After testing she will suggest what program suits the athlete best (either recreational, or 4/6/8 hour Gems group), as well as give tips on what the athlete needs to work on specifically to keep progressing.
