SUMMER CAMP OVERVIEW

posted Jun 21, 2021, 3:57 PM

Hi Gemini Families,

As Summer Camp approaches, we wanted to go over a few things!

We are following all guidelines given to us by Gymnastics Ontario and The Government of Ontario. If you would like to see these guidelines please follow this link: https://www.gymnasticsontario.ca/covid-19-updates/

We have many exciting things planned for your campers! In our camp, we incorporate lots of games & activities, crafts, and outside fun (weather permitting).

DON'T FORGET! A WATER BOTTLE, PERSONAL HAND SANITIZER, SOCKS, A LUNCH and 2 SNACKS for full-day Campers!!

***WE ARE A NUT FREE FACILITY***

When You Arrive:

  • Sign your camper in outside the front door (look for the coach with the clipboard).
  • Campers MUST wear a mask when inside the facility at all times.
  • There are Red Foot Prints where athletes can wait.
  • It is very important you arrive on time (approximately 5 min. before camp).
  • After you sign in, a coach will take temperature, athletes will sanitize their hands and then athletes may enter the facility.
  • We are also asking that you send your athlete in clothing ready to do gymnastics. We are not using our changerooms, so the less they bring in the better!
    • Children can bring a small backpack (including their lunch bags) with them.
  • Campers can bring their water bottle and hand sanitizer into their start area and place it in a designated space. Please make sure it is labelled with their name (either with a sharpie or a label).
  • At this time we are asking parents NOT to enter the facility to reduce overall traffic. The Seating Room will be closed.
  • Before bringing your child to the gym, we ask that you complete a Self-assessment of your athlete. (A link will be sent out prior to camp, to be completed EACH DAY)
    • Ensuring to take temperature and check for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Do NOT send your child if they or someone in your household is experiencing signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Athletes will remove their shoes in the front lobby and CARRY them  into the changeroom area, using the ‘Athlete Shoe Racks’.
  • Social distancing (6 feet) will be maintained at all times.

How to Pick-up:

  • Once camp is over, athletes must leave the gym without delay.
  • Parents/guardians are to pick up their children outside (we will not be allowing athletes to leave without a parent present)
  • Please park at the back of the building or at the parking lot across the road.  5 minutes before camp is over, proceed to the front, side of the building following pylons and arrows and be ready to pick up your child!
  • Athletes will be dismissed from camp one at a time through the change-room emergency door labeled “Camp and Class Pick-Up.”
  • Please see the coach with the clipboard to sign your camper out.
  • Please pick up your child on time; children must be picked up on time or a late fee of $10+HST will be charged.

What To Bring:

  • Full Day Campers: pack 2 snacks and a lunch.
Half Day Campers: pack 1 snack. (Gemini is PEANUT FREE).
  • Remember to pack lots of water and have it labeled with your child’s name on it.
  • Athletes should bring a small bag in with them with things they will need such as: PERSONAL HAND SANITIZER, WATER BOTTLE, personal hygiene items, toilet paper, bands-aids, and NON-SLIP SOCKS
  • We are also asking that you send your athlete in clothing ready to do gymnastics. We are not using our changerooms, so the less they bring in the better!
  • Please leave all valuables at home; Gemini is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  • Pack a swimsuit or a change of clothes and a towel for outside water activities if weather permits!
  • It is also recommended to pack a pair of slip-on shoes or waterproof shoes as the athletes are welcome to remove their shoes in the grass area when playing in the water, however, they are required to put their shoes back on anytime they exit the grass area.
  • Please put sunscreen on your camper before they arrive.
  • We also sell jumbo Freezes for $1; you are welcome to send your camper with $1 to purchase a Freeze during the week.

Facility Safeguarding:

The following steps are still in place throughout the facility to ensure compliance with the guidelines set out by the Province of Ontario:

  • Physical Distancing is in place- 6 feet apart between all participants (except when coaches must prevent possible fall/injury).
  • Coaches and athletes are to wear a face covering at all times.
  • Coaches are to wear eye protection/face shield at all times.
  • Coach to athlete ratio is 1 Coach to 8 Athletes.
  • Increased Cleaning Protocols and Sanitation as per government guidelines are being followed. We have established the following cleaning procedures to ensure the utmost level of sanitation can be met:
  • All coaches have been trained in proper cleaning protocol and all equipment will be wiped down and sanitized at the end of each class, in between uses where necessary and at the end of the day.
  • Cleaning includes but is not limited to door handles, faucets, and toilet handles and all high-touch surfaces.
  • All cleaning products are authorized by Government of Canada with bin# disinfectants against SARSCoV-2, the Covid-19 that causes COVID-19 etc.
  • All doors leading to the gym will be propped open where possible, to avoid needing to be touched upon entering and exiting (weather permitting).
  • Sanitizing stations are located at each of our designated spaces (just inside the main door, before the lobby and three stations in the gym). All athletes will be required to sanitize or wash their hands before rotating.
  • At the end of each day, staff will give a final clean to each space and the entire gym will be fogged and sprayed, all potential touch surfaces on storage bins, washrooms, and doors, floors and countertops will be disinfected.
  • Signage is posted for the hand washing guidelines that are displayed in areas to show people how to properly wash hands (20 seconds with soap & warm water). This is placed at entrances and in bathrooms.
  • Equipment that cannot be cleaned has been covered (foam pit) or removed.
  • Ensuring that respiratory etiquette is followed by advising individuals to cough or sneeze into one’s arm.
  • We have limited the number of athletes permitted in the washroom to one at a time to ensure physical distancing requirements are followed.
